Guzaarish is Sanjay Leela Bhansali's latest Hindi film he has directed and sixth of his career. Mr. Bhansali is most notably known for Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), Devdas (2002), and Black (2005), where he won 28 awards in five separate award shows (Filmfare Awards, Zee Cine Awards, Star Screen Awards, IIFA Awards, Bollywood Movie Awards). Sanjay most notably won the best director and best film for each movie in almost all five of the award shows. Hrithink Roshan has been in the acting business for a long time dating back all the way to his childhood in minor parts. Hrithink is most known for his roles in Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai (2000), Koi...Mil Gaya (2003), Dhoom 2 (2006), Jodhaa Akbar (2008), where he won the Filmfare best actor award in each of the four films. Hrithink's co-star, Aishwarya Rai has been around the acting business awhile as well, starting all the way back in 1997. One thing to note director Sanjay Leela Bhansali must like Aishwarya's work, as she played vital roles in both of Bhansali's critically acclaimed films Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) and Devdas (2002) where she won best actress at the Filmfare award show for both movies.

After a long endured 14 years of living as a paraplegic, Ethan Mascarenhas feels the pain and condition is too much to bear, therefore he seeks legal Euthanasia. As many countries are, India is no different in its laws that state the act of euthanasia is illegal. Ethan sets out to challenge India's law on euthanasia as a special case, compared to normal requests for euthanasia. As you can guess Ethan's first attempt is denied by the court, but that doesn't stop him from gathering a public opinion on the matter from his popular radio show. To Ethan's astonishment not a single one of his listeners thinks it's a good idea to end his life with euthanasia. Instead, Ethan experiences a huge backlash from the paraplegic community and the country, calling him a hypocrite for all the 14 years he has been saying to keep fighting. Will the friends, family, and audience prevail in keeping Ethan alive or with Ethan Mascarenhas finally complete his last magic trick?

One of the main things that grabbed me in this movie was the uncanny relationship between Ethan Mascarenhas (Hrithik Roshan) and his nurse, Sofia D'souza (Aishwarya Rai). Sofia plays a brilliant role in a life devoted to Ethan, her compassion and love is so deep for Ethan that she can't bear to let him die. Much of the electric acting together in this film could be dated back to two previous films they both played major roles in together, Dhoom 2 (2006) and Jodhaa Akbar (2008). The previous experience together makes their relationship more spectacular; so powerful that there won't be a single-woman who watches this film and not get a little teary-eyed.

I would definitely recommend this compelling film. Guzaarish teaches us about the simple loves in life and having the freedom to choose the right over your own body. The acting, idea, and principles behind the entire film are all exceptional. Not to mention the stimulating relationship between main actors Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai. One of the main questions you find yourself asking throughout the movie; is it being a bad friend or family member for helping a man end his life or is the love so great that you would do anything to help him stop the suffering? Finally, I will leave with a quote from Ethan Mascarenhas that we should all abide by.
